We are dedicated to offering our patients the most advanced dental technology available to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Cone Beam CT scans are one of our cutting-edge technologies. Our team, under the supervision of Dr. Soren Michelsen, uses CBCT scanners to get a complete picture of your oral health. This allows us to provide precise and personalized treatment.
What is a Cone Beam CT Scan?
Cone Beam CT is a type of specialized x-ray that produces detailed 3D images in one scan of teeth, soft tissue, nerve pathways, and bone. CBCT scans are more accurate and complete than traditional dental x-rays. This is important for planning complex dental treatments.
Cone Beam CT Scans: Applications
Cone Beam CT scanners are flexible and can be used in several dental treatments, including:
- Autograft: The bone is taken from another area of the body.
- Allograft: The bone is from a human donor.
- Bone Xenograft: The bone is obtained from an animal donor.
- Alloplastic graft: Synthetic materials are substituted for natural bone.

★★★★★
"Dr. Michaelsen was awesome. He took out my tooth put in the implant along with a temporary that looks great!. He walked me through pretty much everything he was doing kept asking if I was ok. The assistant was great to Definitely kept me entertained and took my situation very seriously and even helped me relax by letting me know she has had the same thing done and that we can compare when mine is officially done. Julie helped me in financing everything and was absolutely great at helping me get the payments low enough to afford. It was definitely the best experience I have ever had. I even woke up and I hardly feel a thing it's more sore where they stuck the needles to numb me than anything."
What to Expect During a CBCT Scan
You can expect a comfortable and straightforward experience when you visit Dental Arts for a CBCT. This scan is designed to give you accurate diagnostic information while causing you the least inconvenience.
List of Services
-
Preparation:List Item 1
You may be asked to remove metal objects such as glasses, hearing aids, earrings, or hairpins before the scan starts. These can interfere with the scanning process. Our team will answer all your questions and ensure you fully understand the procedure. Our priority is your comfort, and we will walk you through the procedure to make you feel comfortable.
-
Positioning:List Item 2
You will either be seated comfortably or standing depending on what the scan requires. Our dental team will align you carefully to ensure that the best images are captured. Our staff is well-trained to adjust the alignment for the best possible results. You will be asked not to move during the scan to avoid blurring the images.
-
Scanning:List Item 3
The CBCT machine rotates around your head and captures multiple images at different angles. By rotating around you, the machine can create a comprehensive 3D image of your dental structures. The scanning process takes less than one minute. CBCT scans are safer than traditional CT scans because they use a cone-shaped X-ray.

Review:
Dr. Michaelsen will then review the 3D images together with you. This is an important part of the process as it allows you to understand the condition of your mouth and why any treatment recommendations are made. Dr. Michaelsen uses 3D images and detailed explanations to explain findings. Visual aids can help you understand complex dental problems and their proposed solutions. You will discuss your treatment plan and the following steps to ensure that you are comfortable and fully informed about the recommended course of action.
We at Dental Arts strive to make your experience as pleasant and informative as we can. Our advanced CBCT allows us to diagnose accurately and create tailored treatment plans while ensuring that you are comfortable. Our team will guide you with professionalism and care through the CBCT scanning process.
